This is where I’ve made my home for a few years now, and where I’ve sold plenty of homes over the years. Some of West Roxbury’s charm has yet to be discovered but life is brewing all around.
The houses are pretty and you hear the children playing outside all year round. Most West Roxbury homes are single family houses or multi-family houses. The main parkways are grand and lined with mature trees, beautifully decorated for the holidays.
West Roxbury borders Roslindale, Brookline, Newton and Dedham. This is a great spot if you are traveling into the City on the commuter rail. For Route 1 and 95 access, West Roxbury is also ideal. In less than ten minutes, you can drive to the medical area!
Although West Roxbury used to be a suburb before it became part of the City of Boston, you can walk to the train, shops, restaurants, and parks from just about any spot in this neighborhood. Walk to grab dinner on Centre Street, where you’ll find world cuisine well represented, (Tandoori chicken at the Hymalayan Bistro is highly recommended).
The population I’ve met over the years has been a combination of people born and raised in West Roxbury, or newcomers from the city in need or more space and fewer neighbors. Many civil servants make this neighborhood their home.
Something old, something new, and more home for your money in this well-loved neighborhood of Boston.
