Apple Picking in the Boston Area

One of our favorite late Summer and Fall activities is Apple Picking. Living in Boston, we have to leave the City and invest in some travel, but the trip is always worth it. Here are a few farms my family enjoys.

1. Honey Pot Hill Orchard 138 Sudbury Road in Stow. 978.562.566.

Honey Pot Hill is one of my favorite spots with it’s natural habitat and many kid friendly activities. There are farm animals to visit, hayrides (start at Noon), and a hedgemaze. Nosh on apple cider doughnuts, and have fun choosing a pumpkin in any size. Located about 30 miles Northwest of Boston. Open daily 9AM-6PM.

2. Belkin Family Look Out Farm 89 South Pleasant Street in South Natick. 508–653–0653.

The farm’s train takes you through orchards of fruit, and sure to please every child. Other than an a wide variety of apples, peaches and pears, Look Out Farm has animals to visit, and a large children’s play area. It includes slides, tree house, a train, and occasional face painting. Located about 20 miles Southwest of Boston. Open daily 10AM-5PM

3. Smolak Farms 315 South Bradford Street, North Andover. 978-682-6332.

Berries in the summer, apples and pumpkins in the fall, Christmas trees in winter, and so much more to find at Smolak Farms. But it’s not just a PYO! Smolak Farms offers a full day of activities with kids in the outdoors. Visit animals, go on a hayride, partake in crafts activities, or just enjoy fresh country air. Located 31 miles North of Boston. Open for PYO 9AM-4PM, farm stand open daily 7AM-6PM.
